WRITING, SPEAKING,
AND INSPIRING PEOPLE

I educate people on the power of adoption, inspiring them to support foster kids.

I'm a keynote speaker, spoken word poet, recording artist, and social entrepreneur from Brooklyn, New York. I'm also the Founder and CEO of WRITE. SPEAK. INSPIRE.™️.

For the past decade, I've been sharing my most vulnerable moments through Spoken Word performances. I've had the chance to collaborate and share the stage with some of the most dynamic singer/songwriters, producers, and spoken word poets, such as Antoine Bradford, Chris Webb, Ezekiel Azonwu, Jess Ray, Mission House, The Verses Project, and more.

Currently, I'm inspiring people with my personal story. I'm a survivor of child sexual abuse, a former foster kid, and have had the rare opportunity of being adopted twice in my lifetime. These experiences have radically changed my life.

There are 400,000 children in foster care, and 50% of them will end up homeless or incarcerated if they never get adopted. I believe this is a national crisis that affects the most vulnerable in our community, so I'm doing my part to make a difference!

I educate people on the power of adoption, inspiring them to support (protect, acknowledge, walk alongside, hear, see, value, love, celebrate, care for, rescue, and adopt) foster kids.

When I'm not writing and recording, I'm preparing to speak at conferences, facilitating workshops with college students, developing summer camps for youth and teens, and teaching in churches all over the country.

Authenticity is at the core of everything I do. My ability to capture audiences on stage as a performing artist gives me a distinct advantage as a keynote speaker. Right now, I'm finishing up the manuscript for an upcoming book project and recording my first single.

Youtube Channel Launch 2024!

EVERYDAY
INSPIRATION
WITH SHARLENE

I did the math; to date, I have over 13,000 days worth of stories. I’ve decided to share a handful of them on my new YouTube channel coming in 2024. You will find that I’m completely honest about who I am, what I’ve learned, and where I’m still gaining understanding. My new channel is going to feature content that’s designed to keep you inspired.

WHAT OTHERS
ARE SAYING.

Sharlene is an artist in the truest sense. She takes words and uses them to paint vivid pictures that prompt introspection, encourage collaboration, or compel action. Sharlene is able to do all of this with a remarkable grace and humility that is rare among professional speakers/presenters. As a spoken word artist, Sharlene entertains...but she does so much more than that. Sharlene is a storyteller, a teacher, a guide, and an inspiration. The gifts that Sharlene brings to the table as a friend, employee, or speaker are immeasurable and memorable. She is truly a light!
— Christopher Martinez | Senior Vice President at Conservation Law Foundation
Great and interactive presentation! The students from the U of U First Star program enjoyed learning from Sharlene. We highly recommend her!
— Dayan Castaneda | University of Utah
The most meaningful topic/speaker to me was the Spoken Word Poetry done by Sharlene. Her part in the internship showed me just how important everyone’s voices are and how they should all be heard.
— Noel | High School Student
Sharlene is an engaging speaker and teacher. The youth (and adults) found her to be articulate, patient, humorous, and wise. She is an encouraging and supportive teacher of Spoken Word Poetry, with a positive attitude toward each person’s attempt at writing and speaking. She is observant,, flexible, and organized. One of the adults described her as a “beautiful spirit.” Sharlene is friendly, warm and welcoming. Both of the youth events were excellent!
— Rebecca Husband Maynard | Program Director
Sharlene was amazing! Our students loved their workshop and activities. She was flexible when changes needed to be made, and she was able to keep all students engaged. I would definitely contract to Write, Speak, Inspire again, and I will be referring the company to others.
